La Larr Ba Gauwa - Stone Mountain Devotional, Day 6
La Larr Ba Gauwa (Lah Larr Ba Gower) means “stones and mountain” in Dja Dja Wurrung language.
These paintings of Leanganook seek to embody the mountains’ enigmatic energy; blending gesture, improvisation and vigour to capture the raw essence of nature. Working with expressive brushwork and dynamic compositions to evoke the rhythms of the land, where chaos and order coexist harmoniously. Inspired by the rolling hills and granite outcrops of Djaara country in Central Victoria, I’m seeking to infuse my work with textures and colour, creating landscapes that feel alive and ever-changing. This intuitive approach to painting reflects nature’s unpredictable beauty, inviting viewers into a world shaped by movement and emotion. I’m looking for each piece to resonate with spontaneity, making my art both immersive and evocative.
